South America February 2007
Our best vacation ever we flew to Santiago Chile and took a bus to Valparaiso on the coast to board our Golden Princess Cruise Ship. We sailed south to Pour ta Mont went inland on a bus to the Lake district to cruise a lake at the base of Mont Orsono beautiful sites all around. We bought a little cone shaped pastry filled with chocolate best treat on the trip. Then we went into town to do a little shopping bought a couple white nectarines thought we had died an gone to heaven they tasted so good. Then back to the Ship and on to Pour ta Arenas where we took a ferry out to Magellan Island to visit the Magellan Penguins. we had a couple of Dolphin escorts on the way. we were able to walk with in a few feet of the penguins it was wonderful. Then back into town to shop. Next place was cruising the Chilean Fiord's we saw Amalia Glacier and much more, then on to the Beagle Channel and Ushaia, Argentina. We took a wildlife cruise and saw seals and Cormorants and then into town to do some fun shopping. Then on to sail around Cape Horn. It was raining but you could see the flag posted on the point island. Next, on to the Falkland Islands. There we got on a small twelve person boat to take a Jurassic Park Jeep ride to see the Gentoo Penguins. When we go to the penguins, they layed a rope down between us and them and we were told not to cross it. But no one told the penguins not to cross it! I guess they can go wherever they want! Then we went into town and walked around. It was Sunday and we tried to find the members of Falkland Island branch but to no avail. Next stop was Montevideo, Uruguay. We took a Historical walking tour of down town a very beautiful city and fun shopping in the market. Then back to the dock and just down the street was another market and inside one really cool restaurants wish we could have tried them all but instead we settled for some wonderful Empanadas meat and Carmel ones oh so good. We like to try what we can from the different countries. Next stop Buenas Aries Argentina here it rained a Torrential down pour with thunder and lighting. We took a bus to an Estancia to eat and have a folk dance and song presentation. very beautiful farm wonderful horses we almost got to ride but the ground was to slick. On our way to the Airport we saw the Temple that was a wonderful site wish we could have stopped but to no avail. This trip was the most relaxing trip we have ever been on we loved it we even danced every night. Can't wait until the next one.
